Outside The Box founders Michael Breen and Sean Simpson helped to usher in the University of California, San Diego's very first information systems, prior to the explosion of the Web in 1993. As UCSD's first Webmaster, Michael quickly moved to begin cataloging his other love, music, and with database applications guru, friend, and fellow musician Sean, San Diego Area Music was born, still attracting tens of thousands of visitors to it every month. The two began moonlighting in the industry, and eventually left the university after implementing it's first Web-based campus information and document delivery request systems.
They both joined San Diego based Internet startup Virtually Commerce Corporation, where they gained exposure to many fortune 500 companies. After grooming VCC through venture funding as the CTO and CIO, they left to form their own LLC, Outside The Box.
Outside The Box has continued to provide world class Internet products and services for large and small companies alike, growing mostly through word of mouth from our satisfied customers. Though specializing in the music industry, OTB has built literally thousands of Web sites representing multiple areas of industry.
From unknown bands to Hewlett Packard, Outside The Box takes a personal interest in the success of its customers.
You don't just get our products and services, you get us.
"The Internet is only about three things: Marketing,
marketing and marketing! We never do things just because we can. Know your product,
and know your target market."
Michael Breen, CEO
"We believe in keeping things simple and on point. Many developers give you tons of features you don't need, and don't take the time to understand your needs exactly. It's better to have a perfect hammer than a non-functional Rube Goldberg device."
Sean Simpson, CTO
